He was credited with a ninth-place finish.“It was just a demolition derby,” said Pastrana. “I tried to follow Ken Block as he was one of the quickest all week. I got hit from the left, I got hit from the right and I got hit from behind, nailed in the can. I couldn’t see anything, it was just dust. All of a sudden, I came out of the dust and tried to steer straight but the steering was broken. It would have been fun if it wasn’t so devastating (smiles).Menzies had a more frustrating afternoon. He and Pastrana were paired together in the second heat and the two made contact as the field tried to squeeze through Turn 1. The end result left Menzies’ car pushed to the side and missing his right-front tire.In the LCQ, Menzies started eighth in the eight-car field. He had worked his way up to fifth by the end of the first lap but his hopes to transfer into the main event ended when he was involved in a three-car mishap that also collected Patrik Sandell and Tanner Foust.“In our heat race, Travis and I hit each other and it ripped the whole front right off,” Menzies said. “The guys worked really hard to get it put back together. We went to the LCQ, started dead last and I think we got up to fifth. I was just trying to run a clean race and get up to the top two (the top three finishers in the LCQ transferred). Tanner (Foust) said his throttle stuck wide open and we all three just kind of piled up into the finish line berm and broke the car. We’ll be back for Vegas.”Scott Speed won Sunday’s race at Charlotte, his second victory of the season. Brian Deegan finished second ahead of third-place Toomas Heikkinen, who officially clinched the series title. The final event for Global Rallycross is Nov. 7 in Las Vegas.Global Rallycross – Round No. 8The Dirt Track at CharlotteSunday, Sept. 22, 2013(9-Lap Feature)1. Scott Speed2. Brian Deegan3.
