There will be five 2008 GEM cars participating, including two eL XD utility models, and three e4 passenger models, provided courtesy of Ilderton Dodge Jeep Chrysler in High Point, N.C.The $5.1 million purse promises to bring out golf’s finest players, including defending champion Brandt Snedeker, two-time Wyndham winners Davis Love III and Rocco Mediate, Angel Cabrera, Zach Johnson, Paul Casey, Vijay Singh, David Toms, Tim Clark, Carl Pettersson, Lucas Glover, Jerry Kelly, John Daly and 2007 British Amateur champion Drew Weaver.Various sports teams, athletes and ballparks use GEM cars, including the Washington Nationals who have 22 GEM cars in their new first-in-the-nation LEED-certified ballpark. Camden Yards uses GEM cars for the Baltimore Orioles and Baltimore Ravens games and so do the Philadelphia Eagles. Other notable golf events that have used GEM cars include the Greater Hickory Classic in Hickory, N.C., the Stanford University Men’s Golf Program, the Crown Plaza Invitational at Colonial in Fort Worth, Texas, and the Prestige Golf Tournament in California.Founded in 1938, the Wyndham Championship is among the oldest events on the PGA TOUR.
