An exhaust-gas recirculation valve helps increase fuel economy.Other engines offerings include the 2.8-liter turbo diesel and 4.0-liter V-6 petrol.The 2.8-liter turbo-diesel engine is optional on the SE and SXT and generates 130 kW (177 hp DIN) @ 3,800 rpm and 460 N•m (339 lb.-ft.) of torque @ 2,000 rpm.The 4.0-liter V-6 petrol engine is optional on Dodge Nitro SXT. The engine delivers 191 kW (260 hp DIN) @ 6,000 rpm and 360 N•m (265 lb.-ft.) of torque @ 4,000 rpm.The Dodge Nitro features a coil-spring independent front suspension and a five-link, coil-spring rear suspension. The independent front suspension gives the driver an optimum combination of ride, handling and steering, which provides a greater sense of control and precision. The solid five-link rear suspension, including upper and lower trailing links and track bar, provides higher lateral stiffness for vehicle responsiveness and outstanding handling.A performance suspension is offered on the Dodge Nitro SLT and R/T models.
