Chrysler Offers Oceans of Value with Expanded 2005 Pacifica Lineup

Auburn Hills, Mich. August 31, 2004 -

OVERVIEW

As the innovator of the sports tourer segment, Chrysler is expanding the 2005 Chrysler Pacifica lineup.

With an entry-level five-passenger Pacifica model starting at less than $25,000, a well-equipped Touring model and a top-of-the-line luxury Limited model, Chrysler Pacifica offers gorgeous styling, ingenious flexibility and best-in-class safety in three different waves.

“The expansion of the Chrysler Pacifica lineup to three models really gives Pacifica customers a wide range of dynamite products well beyond the SUV,” said Jeff Bell, Vice President—Chrysler and Jeep®. “The Pacifica sports tourer is a segment buster—it has the flexibility and safety of a minivan and SUV, but the style and refinement of a luxury sedan.”

With a sleek, solid exterior, easy step-across entry and exit, first-class seating, fold-flat seating, load-leveling rear suspension and 3,500-pound tow capacity, the 2005 Chrysler Pacifica establishes a new definition for packaging in premium automotive transportation. In addition, Pacifica establishes a new definition of value, with a U.S. Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) starting at less than $25,000.

“Simply put, the path to premium for the Chrysler brand is measured by what’s in the product, not the price,” said Bell. “The expanded 2005 Chrysler Pacifica lineup is a perfect example of premium vehicles without a premium price.”

2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA
The Chrysler Pacifica offers three models for the 2005 model year. In addition to the expanded model lineup, two new colors are also available, Magnesium and Linen Gold.

The new Chrysler Pacifica model features two-row, five-passenger seating. Second-row seats fold flat, which creates 92.2 cu. ft. of available cargo space. Standard equipment includes next-generation multi-stage driver and front-passenger air bags with Occupant Classification System, driver’s side inflatable knee blocker, four-wheel independent suspension equipped with premium five-link rear suspension, four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, a Sentry Key® theft deterrent system, remote keyless illuminated entry and Chrysler’s 7/70 powertrain warranty. The Chrysler Pacifica equipped with front-wheel drive includes a standard 3.8-liter V-6 engine, while all-wheel-drive equipped vehicles are powered by a standard 3.5-liter V-6 engine.

2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA TOURING
The 2005 Chrysler Pacifica Touring model offers another level of Pacifica’s hallmark refinement, comfort, safety and roominess. With “2+2+2” three-row, six-passenger seating and 79.5 cu. ft. of available cargo space, stylish flexibility is redefined in the Touring model. In addition to the standard features on the Chrysler Pacifica, Pacifica Touring models equipped with front-wheel drive include first-class, first- and second-row seating with available power heated bucket seats, and 17-inch aluminum wheels.

Chrysler Pacifica Touring models equipped with all-wheel drive also include standard premium leather seats. New optional equipment for the Pacifica Touring model includes rear park assist, 19-inch chrome-clad wheels and factory-installed SIRIUS® satellite radio.

2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA LIMITED
The 2005 Chrysler Pacifica Limited model is the epitome of style, flexibility, safety and graceful performance. In addition to the standard equipment offered on the other Pacifica models, the Pacifica Limited includes standard all-wheel drive, monochromatic exterior, unique 19-inch chrome-clad wheels, exclusive interior trim featuring first- and second-row luxury leather heated seats, leather steering wheel and shift knob with wood trim accents, power moon roof, three-row side-curtain air bag, rear park assist, tire pressure monitoring system, power adjustable pedals, power liftgate, a six-disc CD/DVD changer and AM/FM/Cassette/CD radio. New optional equipment for the Pacifica Limited model includes factory-installed SIRIUS satellite radio.

THREE LEVELS OF HANDSOME PROTECTOR
Early in the development of the Chrysler Pacifica, its internal code name was the “Handsome Protector.” The Pacifica earned this moniker with styling distinguished by a sleek, solid, protective exterior, coupled with a clean, thoughtful interior. The tradition of the “Handsome Protector” continues with three models of the 2005 Chrysler Pacifica to choose from.

Sleek, protective exterior design cues include a side profile that emphasizes a high beltline, a crisp distinctive character line that begins at the front wheel opening and rises gently toward the rear, a unique glass-to-body proportion and wheels that are flush with the body. Chrysler Pacifica’s interior is clean, precise and sculpted, fulfilling the promise of the exterior design.

“The first-class experience is established as soon as you open Pacifica’s doors,” said Ann Fandozzi, Director—Family Vehicle Product Planning and Marketing. “Getting into and out of the vehicle is a breeze with easy ‘step across’ entry and exit and first- and second-row chair height seats give occupants a sense of security and a command-of-the-road point of view without compromise.” Rounding out the first-class interior experience is the driver-oriented instrument cluster with an available integrated navigation system directly in the driver’s view.

The 2005 Chrysler Pacifica Limited has unique design cues, including a monochromatic exterior, 19-inch chrome-clad wheels and an interior design exclusive to the Pacifica Limited.

SAFETY, SECURITY
The Chrysler Pacifica earned its name of “Handsome Protector” as it received the U.S. federal government’s highest crash test rating of five stars for frontal and side impacts (when equipped with optional three-row side-curtain air bags). In addition, Chrysler Pacifica achieved a “Best Pick” rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) in its frontal offset test.

The 2005 Chrysler Pacifica continues to offer occupant protection with many safety and security features.

All-wheel Drive: By combining front- and rear-wheel drive to transfer engine power to all four wheels, all-wheel drive provides the pulling power of front-wheel drive with the pushing power of rear-wheel drive for superior traction control and acceleration.

Anti-lock Braking System: The system is equipped with electronic sensors that prevent wheel lockup, which offers improved steering control under extreme braking and/or slippery conditions.

BeltAlert: Chrysler Group’s new enhanced seat belt reminder system will periodically activate a chime and illuminate a light in the instrument cluster in order to remind unbuckled drivers to buckle up.

Body Structure: Crush beads and stiffeners engineered into the vehicle body help absorb crash energy, while preserving the integrity of the vehicle compartment. These reinforcements provide additional protection in an offset-type impact.

Child Seat Anchor System: The LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren) system eases installation of compatible aftermarket child seats.

Constant Force Retractors (CFR): CFRs are engineered to force-limit the belt system that distributes the force of a seat belt according to load or force exerted on it, and gradually release seat belt webbing in a controlled manner in the event of a severe crash.

Enhanced Accident Response System: This system makes it easier for emergency personnel to identify a vehicle and reach the occupant by turning on the interior lighting and unlocking the doors after air bag deployment.

Front Crush Sensors: Two sensors located below the headlamps measure the severity of an impact and relay crash information to safety systems in the occupant compartment.

Inflatable Knee Blocker: A Chrysler Group first on the Pacifica, the driver-side knee blocker inflates in conjunction with air bag deployment. It potentially increases leg protection in an impact and helps to position the driver relative to the air bag.

Occupant Classification System (OCS):
This system measures conditions for activation or deactivation of the passenger-side air bag, based upon the weight of the occupant.

Pretensioners: During a collision, seat belt pretensioners electronically sense a severe crash and immediately remove slack from the seat belt, which reduces the forward movement of the occupant’s upper body.

Rear Park Assist: This rear obstacle detection system offers an audible warning and rear overhead display.

Supplemental Multi-stage Air Bags:
Multi-stage air bags deploy at three different rates, depending on the severity of a crash. In low-severity collisions, the air bag deploys with less force. The force is increased in the event of a severe collision.

Supplemental Side-curtain Air Bags:
These side-curtain air bags provide coverage for all three rows of seats. Both side-curtain air bags have independent impact sensors in order to trigger the air bag on the side where the impact occurs.

Three-point Lap/Shoulder Belt: All six seating positions in the 2005 Chrysler Pacifica Touring and Pacifica Limited models have a three-point restraint system, maximizing the effectiveness of the seat belt.

Tire Pressure Monitoring System: This advanced system monitors the pressure inside each tire and alerts the driver to improper tire pressure conditions.

New exterior colors for all 2005 Chrysler Pacifica models include Linen Gold and Magnesium.

All Chrysler Pacifica models are built at DaimlerChrysler’s Windsor Assembly Plant in Windsor, Ontario, Canada.
