Simple-to-use and hassle-free technological advancements in vehicle entertainment add to the driving and riding experience in the all-new 2006 Dodge Charger.

“The Dodge Charger’s vehicle communications offerings create an enjoyable and safe driving environment through practical innovations, while enabling customers to choose the services they want,” said Mike Kane, Director – Feature Innovation and Advance Technology Strategy, Chrysler Group. “It’s all about meeting the diverse needs of our customers while maintaining simplicity, safety, freedom and flexibility.”

SIRIUS Satellite Radio*

SIRIUS provides Dodge Charger customers with 100 streams of the best music, entertainment and information coast-to-coast. SIRIUS offers 60 streams of commercial-free music as well as 40 world-class sports, news and entertainment streams, 24 hours a day.

Dodge Charger customers selecting the SIRIUS Satellite Radio option receive a small, mouse-sized antenna mounted to the roof of their vehicles. Consumers can scan channels, select pre-set buttons for favorite channels and search both by music category and channel, which are displayed on the radio screen.

The Chrysler Group offers SIRIUS Satellite Radio as both a dealer- and factory-installed feature on 2006 Dodge Charger SXT and R/T models. SIRIUS provides a one-year free subscription.

UConnect™ Hands-free Communication System

The UConnect Hands-free Communication System in the Dodge Charger uses Bluetooth® technology to provide wireless communication between the customer’s compatible cellular telephone and the car’s on-board receiver. Bluetooth is a short-range wireless networking technology that connects two or more devices together. As the number of drivers using cell phones increases, hands-free, voice-activated options are a way to connect a driver to a cell phone call more safely. The Chrysler Group was the first North American automaker to offer its customers a Bluetooth-enabled, dealer-installed automotive application of this technology.

The optional factory-installed UConnect system is available on Dodge Charger SXT and R/T models and allows audio to be heard through the car’s radio speakers, while a control pad and microphone housed in the vehicle’s rearview mirror serve as the driver interface.

UConnect also is available as a dealer-installed option.

* SIRIUS is a registered trademark of SIRIUS Satellite Radio Inc.

UConnect features the following:

  • Voice dialing — Voice commands can be used to digit-dial the phone or access pre-stored voice tags
  • Audio address book — Customers can store as many as 32 names with four numbers per name, for a total of 128 phone numbers
  • Audio system mute — Mutes the microphone for privacy
  • Call transfer — Customers can transfer a call from the vehicle’s system to a mobile phone
  • Multi-language — Allows communication in three languages
    (French, Spanish and English)
  • Multi-phone recognition — As many as five phones can be used within the vehicle’s system

Video Entertainment System (VES™)

The optional VES system available with the 2006 Dodge Charger SXT package and on the Charger R/T model is conveniently integrated into the center console for easy storage and viewing. The system consists of a center console-mounted DVD player and 7-inch liquid crystal display (LCD) screen, a battery-powered remote control and two wireless multi-channel headsets.

The DVD player’s location in the center console storage bin provides rear-seat passengers easy access to the unit. The hinged LCD screen can be fully stored into the armrest or flipped up for viewing.

The system can play video, audio, Windows Media Audio (WMA), audio CDs, MP3 audio discs and video CDs. There also are auxiliary input jacks on the faceplate so that rear-seat passengers can view video directly from a video camera, play games from a video game console or play music directly from a portable MP3 player.

A unique feature of the Dodge Charger’s DVD entertainment system permits the vehicle speakers to play audio from a disc in the DVD player while the headphones play audio from the SIRIUS Satellite Radio, AM or FM radio or a disc in the radio CD player.

DVD-based Global Positioning System

The Dodge Charger’s factory-installed navigation radio system is housed in the center of the dashboard, which allows both the driver and front passenger easy access. The 5.8-inch full-color display features an MP3 player (a navigation-system first), AM/FM stereo, 6-disc CD player and navigation system in one unit.

Destinations can be entered into the system eight different ways, while the screen can be viewed as a detailed map or enlarged to be viewed turn-by-turn. Using voice commands, the system guides the user through the drive route, mile-by-mile, turn-by-turn until the final destination is reached. The map database information is housed on a single DVD-ROM, based on NAVTEQ* data. One disc covers all of North America.

When coupled with SIRIUS Satellite Radio, the stream listing, stream category, song title and artist can be viewed on the system’s display screen.

The navigation system is available as an option on the Dodge Charger R/T model.
