Dodge/RCH Racing - Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series Post-Race - Round 10 - Daytona

March 9, 2013 , DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -  BROC TICKLE (No. 20 Dodge/Sycuan Casino/RCH Racing/Bel-Ray/Suzuki Z450) Finished 9th
TALK ABOUT YOUR MAIN EVENT: “I actually got a pretty good start, I just had a starting gate position too far out. Tonight was good. We got off to a decent start in the Main and just started picking guys off. I just wanted to be strong for the entire race because I knew that stamina was going to be a big factor. I knew that guys were going to make mistakes and if you ran your own race things would work out for me. It was just a solid race. That’s the thing here, you have to ride consistent and it can either make your or break you. It was really gnarly tonight.”

COULD YOU EVER RUN THE SAME LINE TODAY? “Actually, there were a few sections that I could run the same line others that I had to change it up. When it the track started to get eaten up I had to change things up and bit and not try and use too much energy. Everybody in front of me rode solid. I’m really happy with this finish and think it’s another step in the right direction.”

TALK ABOUT YOUR HEAT RACE. “This week was awesome. We had fun at the RC Compound. I’m really pumped that we went there to ride. It made me feel good about the weekend. For me, the Heat Race was really good. I got an awesome start. We worked on starts at RC’s on Thursday and I felt that it paid off. We worked on things in the sand because we knew that the starting gate was going to be sandy. We got that dialed-in.”

THIS RACE TRACK WAS A BATTLE TODAY. YOU HAVE GAIN CONFIDENCE FROM YOUR RIDE TONIGHT? “For sure. It’s been a process and I think that we’re building more pieces to our puzzle. I’m going to work with RC this week again and keep trying to get better. I had a lot of fun this week and I think that’s why I rode so well today.”

HOW TOUGH WAS THIS TRACK TO RIDE? “It was gnarly. You had to pick smart lines all night. It was a demanding track and it brought out the toughness in you. The sand is hard to maneuver and you have to be really accurate on your lines. RC built a great track here. It was so demanding and fun at the same time.”

TONY BERLUTI (Crew Chief, No. 20 Dodge/Sycuan Casino/RCH Racing/Bel-Ray/Suzuki Z450)
IT WAS A SOLID DAY FOR THE NO. 20 TEAM TODAY: “I’m happy with the day. It was solid. It was solid in the Main and the holeshot in the Heat Race was good to see.

“Broc struggled a bit in the Heat Race. He said that he just didn’t charge hard enough early, but took a fifth - solid ride.

“In the Main he didn’t get the start he wanted but that’s because his gate pick was outside. He battled. He was 12th or so after the first lap and was able to battle out a ninth-place finish. He put in 20 real hard laps in the Main and that’s awesome.”

SHAWN BELL (Crew Chief, No. 75 Dodge/Sycuan Casino/RCH Racing/Bel-Ray/Suzuki Z450) Finished 15th
CAN YOU TALK ABOUT THE GUTSY RIDE THAT JOSH (HILL) RODE IN THE MAIN TONIGHT? “He tossed his goggles on Lap 7 because he had such a glare and this is probably the worst place to do that. It’s so sandy, pretty much a sand dune. I’m guessing it was the hardest thing to do, not have goggles and ride around this place without goggles.”

JOSH IS A PRETTY GUTSY KID. “For sure. It was cool to watch him fight through the Main. It’s hard to describe how difficult it was to ride 12 or 13 laps without goggles here. I’m not quite sure how he did it.”

HOW MUCH DID IT HELP YOUR TEAM TO RIDE AT RICKY’S COMPOUND THIS WEEKEND IN PREPARATION FOR DAYTONA? “Everything we worked on at RC’s was what we dealt with tonight. We put the work in and Ricky was awesome working with the riders.”

THIS WAS A NICE STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION. “Without a doubt. We just need to keep working hard.”
