SRT Motorsports - 24 Hours of Le Mans Test Day Recap

June 8, 2013 , Auburn Hills, Mich. -  The SRT® Viper GTS-R made its return to Le Mans with a successful test day Sunday at Circuit de la Sarthe in preparation for the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

 

The eight-hour full field test was broken down into a pair of four-hour timed sessions that included mandatory on-track time for rookies at the 8.469-mile street circuit southwest of Paris.

 

Twelve LM GTE Pro cars took part in the test. Rain was a factor during the morning practice session, limiting on-track time for all classes and slowing the pace on the track. Only one day of testing permitted by the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO) in preparation for the 24-hour race on June 22-23. The day provided race engineers the opportunity to gather critical data in preparation for the twice around the clock event.

 

Speeds in the LM GTE Pro class climbed during the day and when the second session came to a close, the No. 93 Pennzoil Ultra SRT Viper GTS-R (Jonathan Bomarito, Kuno Wittmer and Tommy Kendall) had the ninth quickest time of the session – 4:01.734. The No. 53 SRT Viper GTS-R (Marc Goossens, Dominik Farnbacher and Ryan Dalziel) was one position behind with a 4:03.281.
