Ram Truck/RCH Racing - Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship - Race Recap - Lake Elsinore

TICKLE ENDS MOTOCROSS SEASON WITH NINTH TOP-10 FINISH
August 23, 2013 , Lake Elsinore, Calif. -  Broc Tickle finished the 2013 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship season with a 10th-place overall finish in the Red Bull Lake Elsinore National Saturday afternoon at Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park.

Tickle’s ledger for the 2013 season included nine top-10 finishes in 12 races and an eighth-place finish in the series rider standings. His 10th-place effort at Lake Elsinore came under harsh weather conditions as temperatures soared to 98 degrees under sun-filled Southern California skies.

The Holly, Mich., native posted the sixth-best overall speed in qualifying on Saturday morning. He started sixth in Moto 1 and finished 11th. Tickle completed the first lap eleventh in line and, with the exception of lap 5, he remained there.

In Moto 2, Tickle started 11th and fell back to 14th after an early-race mishap but rebounded and fought his way back to 11th at the checkered flag.

“I felt awesome in practice and the first moto but I struggled,” said Tickle. “I wasn’t tired. It was hot but I didn’t have it going for the whole moto. I regrouped and tried to figure out what I needed to do to step it up. I crashed on the second or third lap in Moto 2 but got going and honestly, I felt the best I did all day there at the end and was pumped the last couple laps.

“It’s been a good year with the team. They did a great job and I’m looking forward to working really hard with them in the offseason. When we go to Monster Cup, we can be better than what we were during the motocross season and when we get to Anaheim (2014 Supercross season opener), we’ll be even better than that.”

Tickle said the track conditions at Lake Elsinore had a little something for everyone.

“Everybody kind of knew that Elsinore was going to be gnarly. It just had everything on it. I mean it was hard in some places, greasy in others and deep in others. It was rutted and it was hard packed in others places so it had everything. I got my groove there at the end of the second moto and it felt awesome. I wish I could have figured that out early in the race.”

Ricky Carmichael, co-owner of RCH Racing, was asked about his year as an owner in the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship season. “You know, it was pretty good,” he said. I think we were right where we wanted to be. The whole Ram/Sycuan Suzuki was really good. The team was awesome. I had a good time. We’ll just keep building for next year.”

Ryan Villopoto swept both motos en route to the overall victory. Villopoto, who clinched the series championship one week earlier at Utah, finished the season with six consecutive moto victories and won 18 of the 24 motos during the Motocross season.
