March 21, 2014 , Auburn Hills, Mich. -  The all-new 2015 Chrysler 200 is a tour-de-force of safety and security technology, from its thoughtful use of boron steel, to its clever integration of embedded communications technology.

Launching on the all-new 200 is Full-speed Forward Collision Warning-Plus, a leading-edge crash-avoidance technology. When a frontal impact appears imminent, it can slow the vehicle or – at low speeds – bring it to a complete stop.

The following is a list of standard and available safety and security features on the all-new 2015 Chrysler 200, by category:
Driver warning and assist, chassis control and brake systems
Available systems featuring ultrasonic, radar, camera and other technologies combine to offer the driver 360-degree awareness and, when circumstances dictate, course-correction assistance.
  1. Adaptive Cruise Control-Plus: Helps maintain distance from vehicle ahead; under certain traffic conditions, system can bring vehicle to full stop without driver intervention
  2. All-speed traction control system: Part of standard anti-lock brake system (ABS), helps keep driving wheels from spinning during acceleration from a stop or at speed by applying brakes alone or in combination with engine torque limitation
  3. Anti-lock brake system (ABS): Senses and prevents wheel lockup, offering improved steering control under extreme braking and/or slippery conditions
  4. Blind-spot Monitoring (BSM): Uses dual ultra-wideband radar sensors to aid driver when changing lanes, passing or being passed; blind-spot vehicle presence noted via illuminated icons in side-view mirrors and driver-selectable audible chime
  5. Brake assist: System applies maximum braking power in emergency braking situations, minimizing stopping distance
  6. Brake-lock differential system (BLDS): Allows the vehicle to maintain forward motion if one or more wheels lose traction by selectively applying brakes to transfer torque to the wheels with traction
  7. Brake-throttle override: Allows driver to stop the vehicle when throttle and brake inputs occur simultaneously; electronic throttle control reduces engine-power output until vehicle stops or pedal inputs cease
  8. Brake/park interlock: Prevents the transmission from being shifted out of “Park” unless the brake pedal is pushed
  9. Brake traction-control system (BTCS): Helps to keep driving wheels from spinning during acceleration from a stop or during slow speeds by applying individual brakes to the slipping wheel(s)
  10. Electronic brake-force distribution: Optimizes stopping distances and control under all vehicle loading conditions by regulating braking pressure, front-to-rear
  11. Electronic parking brake (EPB) with SafeHold: Segment-exclusive standard console-lever electronic parking brake supplants conventional pull-handle/push-pedal system; can be activated while driving (pull up switch and hold); can be released automatically by engaging forward or reverse gears with driver buckled in and door closed; also features SafeHold, which stops the vehicle using the motor on caliper (MOC) at each rear wheel if driver unlatches seat belt and opens door without placing vehicle in park
  12. Electronic stability control (ESC): Enhances directional control and stability of vehicle in various driving conditions; activation occurs when the driver’s desired path (based on steering-wheel angle) differs with the vehicle’s actual path. ESC may automatically reduce throttle input and/or selectively deploy brakes to counteract oversteer or understeer
  13. Full-speed Forward Collision Warning-Plus: Radar and camera technology combine to determine if frontal impact appears imminent. If so, system pre-fills brakes, then transmits audible and visual warnings for driver to intervene. No response triggers brief brake application as tactile alert; if driver remains unresponsive and frontal collision risk remains, brakes are applied to slow vehicle before impact. System can bring vehicle to full stop if speed is reduced below 15 miles per hour (mph)
  14. LaneSense Departure Warning-Plus: Alerts and assists driver with corrective action; leverages electronic power steering (EPS) to deliver subtle steering-wheel input when system detects need for course correction
  15. ParkSense Parallel/Perpendicular Park Assist: Ultrasonic parking sensors on bumper guide driver into parking space. The system automatically controls steering-wheel angle, driver controls and gear position. Parallel parking possible on either side of vehicle by selecting the direction with the turn signal; for perpendicular parking, vehicle backs itself into space
  16. ParkSense front and rear park assist systems with stop and release: ln reverse, at low speeds, ultrasonic sensors detect stationary objects. If imminent collision is detected, system will provide a momentary, autonomous brake pulse, then release. Below 4.4 mph, system will bring vehicle to a stop before releasing
  17. ParkView rear backup camera: Provides wide-angle view of area immediately behind vehicle, giving driver greater peace of mind before reversing. Features dynamic grid lines to aid driver when maneuvering into parking spaces or narrow areas. Image is displayed on the navigation screen when the transmission is shifted into reverse
  18. Rain brake support: In rainy conditions, occasionally pushes brake pads lightly against brake rotors to keep rotors dry
  19. Ready Alert Braking (RAB): Anticipates situations when driver may initiate an emergency brake stop and uses ESC pump to set brake pads against rotors, decreasing time required for full brake application
  20. Rear Cross Path (RCP) detection: In parking-lot situations, warns drivers of lateral traffic when backing out of parking spaces; automatically activates any time a vehicle is in reverse gear. Driver is alerted of Advancapproaching vehicle(s) via illuminated icons on side-view mirrors and driver-selected audible chime 

    Occupant restraint technology
  21. Advanced multistage driver and front-passenger air bags: Inflate with force appropriate to the severity of the impact; meet FMVSS 208 advanced air bag requirements for smaller, out-of-position occupants
  22. All-row, full-length side-curtain air bags: Extend protection to all outboard front- and rear-seat passengers. Devices housed in headliner above side windows, each side air bag has its own impact sensor that triggers deployment on the side of the vehicle where impact occurs
  23. BeltAlert: Activates chime and/or illuminates icon in instrument cluster to remind driver and front passenger to buckle up if vehicle is driven without belted front-seat occupants
  24. Child seat anchor system: LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren) designed to ease installation of compatible aftermarket child seats
  25. Front seat-belt adaptive/active load limiters: Designed to optimize the chest loading in an impact event
  26. Front seat-belt pretensioners: During a collision, impact sensors initiate front seat-belt pretensioners to remove slack in the seat-belt system, thereby reducing the forward movement of the occupant’s head and torso
  27. Front-seat-mounted side pelvic thorax bags: Provide enhanced protection to the driver and front passenger in certain impacts. Each side air bag has its own impact sensor that triggers deployment on the side where an impact occurs
  28. Driver’s-side knee air bag: Deploys with advanced multistage driver air bag; located below instrument panel, device designed to properly position occupant during impact while offering additional lower leg protection
  29. Front-passenger knee air bag: Deploys with advanced multistage passenger air bag located below instrument panel. The device is designed to properly position occupant during impact, while offering additional lower leg protection
  30. Height-adjustable seat belts (front-row): Outboard seat belts feature height adjustment, allowing for seat belt to be placed in optimal position for any driver
  31. Occupant restraint controller: Detects impact and determines whether crash is severe enough to trigger air bag deployment and whether primary- or secondary-stage inflation is sufficient. Also detects side impacts and determines whether rail-curtain and side seat-mounted (thorax protection) air bags should deploy. Engagement of front seat-belt pretensioners also managed via controller

    Structural systems
    The all-new 2015 Chrysler 200 boasts a 60-percent content ratio of hot-stamped, high-strength and advanced high-strength steel. Boron steel is used around the door rings for added roof strength and improved crashworthiness. Similarly, the A-pillar inner and outer is reinforced with hot-stamped steel.
  34. Energy-absorbing steering column: Manual-adjust steering column features two hydroformed coaxial tubes that move relative to each other to allow for enhanced energy absorption during an impact. Power-adjust steering column employs a calibrated bending element that deforms during column stroke for optimal energy management
  35. Front and rear crumple zones: Specially formed structural members that crumple and absorb energy in a collision, helping protect the occupant cabin
  36. Safety cage body structure: Protects occupants by managing and controlling energy in the event of an impact
  37. Side-guard door beams: Reinforcement beams inside the doors that increase occupant protection in a side collision

    Lighting and visibility systems
    The all-new 2015 Chrysler 200 helps drivers see and be seen.
  38. Auto-dimming rear-view mirror: Auto-dimming mirror automatically reduces glare from bright light allowing driver to have a clearer view of the road ahead
  39. Automatic headlamps: Headlamps turn on and off automatically depending on exterior light levels and if windshield wipers are operating
  40. Automatic high-beam control: Headlamp system adjusts to ambient light and oncoming traffic to deliver maximum lighting
  41. Daytime running lamps (DRL): Low-intensity halogen or signature LED lights that illuminate during daytime conditions, increasing vehicle’s visibility to other drivers
  42. Enhanced Accident Response System (EARS): Makes it easier for emergency personnel to see and reach occupants in the event of an accident by turning on the interior lighting and unlocking doors after air bag deployment; also shuts off flow of fuel to the engine
  43. Rain-sensing wipers: A driver convenience feature that automatically senses moisture on the windshield and activates wipers
  44. LED tail lamps: Provide dual function illumination (brake, stop, turn and running light functions) with harmonious and consistent illumination throughout the tail lamp due to individual illumination points
  45. Supplemental turn signals: Signal lamp built into housing of exterior mirrors allows turn signals to be viewed from the front, as well as the sides and rear of the vehicle in order to alert oncoming traffic and pedestrians 

    Emergency connectivity and other safety and security features

  46. 9-1-1 call/Assist Call: Enabled by a built-in data connection, mirror-mounted button connects occupants directly with emergency service providers. For roadside assistance or Uconnect system questions, a separate button establishes direct contact with appropriate call-takers
  47. Auto-reverse sunroof: Automatically reverses when it senses an obstruction while closing
  48. Auto-reverse windows: Automatically reverses when it senses an obstruction while closing
  49. Child-protection rear door locks: Disables rear doors’ inside-release handle by adjusting a small lever on door-shut face
  50. Express up/down windows: One-touch express up/down window button located on the front driver and passenger-side door
  51. Global position sensor (GPS): Used for navigation guidance and electronic vehicle tracking
  52. Keyless Enter-N-Go: Electronic sensors detect if unique vehicle key fob is present, which enables passive cabin entry and trunk access. Turns on interior lamps and enables push-button ignition – no need to insert key
  53. Locking fuel filler door: Prevents theft or tampering, which can lead to damage, inefficiency and unwanted fuel vapor release
  54. Remote keyless entry: Locks and unlocks doors and turns on interior lamps. If vehicle is equipped with security alarm, remote also arms and disarms system
  55. Remote start: Fob-activated convenience; starts engine and activates interior climate settings while maintaining vehicle security
  56. Sentry Key engine immobilizer: Utilizes an engine key with embedded transponder and preprogrammed security code to discourage vehicle theft. When key is inserted into the ignition, controller sends a random number to the transponder and the engine is allowed to start. If an incorrect key is used, the engine will shut off after a few seconds
  57. SiriusXM Travel Link: Real-time traffic updates, local fuel prices, weather conditions, sports scores and movie locations and times all featured in this subscription-based system provided by SiriusXM Radio
  58. Tilt-and-telescoping steering column: Allows steering column to tilt and move toward or away from the driver to achieve a safe and comfortable distance from the advanced multi-stage front driver air bag, if deployed
  59. Tire-pressure monitoring (TPM) system – Lock-on Sync: Standard feature informs driver when tire pressure is too low. Pressure-sensor modules within valve stems of all four wheels send continuous radio-frequency signals to a receiver. Available system uses graphic display to indicate tire-specific pressure
  60. Uconnect Voice Command: In-vehicle, voice-activated communication system that allows drivers to use Bluetooth-compatible phones while keeping their hands on the wheel and eyes on the road; voice commands also enable audio-system operation and access to real-time information, such as weather forecasts via SiriusXM Travel Link
