April 5, 2015 , Kanata, Ontario -  During Sunday’s live, season-finale broadcast of Rogers Hometown Hockey, the Sullivan family of Orangeville, Ontario, was named Canada's Ultimate Hockey Family, receiving the keys to a brand-new 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan, valued at over $33,000.

“There [are] so many exciting and incredible aspects about winning the Dodge Grand Caravan,” said David Sullivan, who received the keys to his new Canadian-built minivan from Rogers Hometown Hockey’s on-air reporter, Tara Slone, during Sunday’s broadcast. “The fact that my wife and I just had our first daughter three months ago the timing could not be any more perfect. I know that time is going to fly by and in a flash it will be her equipment that I am throwing in the trunk before heading off to the rink. “

Via www.hometownhockey.com/ultimatefamily, Canadian families were asked to submit a photo and caption, explaining why they are our nation’s Ultimate Hockey Family. The Orangeville family was selected from over 1,500 entries voted on by FCA Canada and Rogers Communications representatives.

The Sullivans submitted an on-ice photo of 50-plus family members and explained that it was the 30th annual family skate: “Denis Sullivan played hockey until the age of 60,” read their caption. “13 of his children and dozens of his grandchildren have continued to play in organized hockey over the years. Every Christmas we gather to celebrate the holidays, family, and Canada’s greatest game!”

Said David Sullivan: “To have our family story and love for hockey shared with other Canadians coast to coast is … one of the most incredible moments of my life. I just want to take this chance to say to Rogers and Dodge that it is contests like this that take hockey into communities coast-to-coast and continue to grow and strengthen our proudest Canadian tradition. I looked at so many of the entries and I was touched by how many terrific hockey moments and memories were had and cherished by the participants.”

He added: “The neatest part about winning the van today is that it allows us to get rid of one of our other vehicles and, with the money we get from selling the car, we are going to plan a special, once-in-a-lifetime Sullivan Family Skate for 2016. I have already started making plans and it is going to be an unforgettable celebration for the whole family.”

“We want to sincerely congratulate the Sullivan family on being named Canada's Ultimate Hockey Family. They’re sure to use their new 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan for many trips to the arena and beyond,” said Ed Broadbear, VP of Marketing, FCA Canada Inc. “Their passion for hockey obviously runs deep - as does ours, with the Dodge brand and its grassroots Dodge Caravan Kids program being key supporters of the Rogers Hometown Hockey Tour.”

Rogers Hometown Hockey Tour kicked off in London, Ont. in October, 2014 and then travelled nationally through 25 hockey-centric communities. Each weekend a free, outdoor festival took over each city with activities for all ages, a chance to meet local hockey heroes and celebrities, plus broadcast viewing parties, all culminating Sunday with Canadian TV icon Ron MacLean hosting a pre-game show live on-site from the Sportsnet mobile studio.

At each jam-packed weekend stop, Dodge was on-site with display vehicles and free Dodge cheer gear. Gas cards valued at $50 were awarded to daily winners who performed the Dodge Stow 'n Go Challenge – an obstacle course that included hockey sticks, sumo suits and the minivan’s clever fold-in-floor seating and storage system – with the fastest times. There was also a warming area with a 60-inch TV screen to catch the game in comfort.
