FCA US LLC Engineer Among SAE Fellows for 2015

April 21, 2015 , Detroit -  FCA US LLC Sr. Technical Fellow Hussein Dourra has been named an SAE Fellow for 2015. The honor will be bestowed this evening at the SAE World Congress in Detroit.
 
Fellow is the highest order of membership in the Society of Automotive Engineers. It recognizes those who have made a significant impact on SAE’s mission to promote mobility technology.
 
The announcement marks Dourra’s third major SAE honor in three years, having received the Forest R. McFarland Award in 2014 for sharing technical information and the Edward Cole Award in 2013 for inspirational leadership.
 
Dourra, 58, joined the company in 1982 and currently leads the powertrain control science team. He holds more than 25 U.S. patents and five international patents and helped pioneer the industry’s first electronic transmission controls.

Dourra was the first beneficiary of the company’s Technical Fellow program, earning the title in 2008. Technical Fellow is a title reserved for recognized industry experts.

In 2008, he shared the Walter P. Chrysler Technology Award. Dourra won for his work on an algorithm that enables precise control of multiple shift elements.
