March 15, 2020 All three companies and the UAW are working to coordinate action to prevent the spread of the COVID-19/coronavirus, including enhanced visitor screening, increased cleaning and sanitizing of common areas and touch points, and implementing safety protocols for people with potential exposure, as well as those who exhibit flu-like symptoms. The joint task force’s areas of focus will include vehicle production plans, additional social distancing, break and cleaning schedules, health and safety education, health screening, food service and any other areas that have the potential to improve protections for employees.
March 5, 2020 FCA announced today that it will invest $400 million to repurpose an idled transmission plant in Kokomo, Ind., to build the GMET4 engine – the Company’s 2.0-liter Global Medium Engine inline four-cylinder turbo that is currently offered on the Jeep® Wrangler and Jeep Cherokee.

September 24, 2019 FCA is extending the application window for the more than 11,000 pre-qualified Detroiters who want to work at the Company’s new assembly plant being built on the city’s eastside. The deadline for applications is now Sept. 29. The extension applies to Detroiters who have already completed the Detroit at Work Job Readiness activities held at over 300 events around the city since June.
August 13, 2019 FCA marked a milestone today as it raised the first piece of steel for the nearly 800,000-square-foot paint shop being built on the site of the former Mack Avenue Engine Complex. The Company announced in February that it would invest $1.6 billion to convert the two existing facilities into a new assembly site for an all-new, three-row, full-size Jeep® SUV and the next-generation Jeep Grand Cherokee, creating 3,850 new jobs.

March 1, 2019 The Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) Etobicoke Casting Plant has been awarded bronze status for its efforts in implementing World Class Manufacturing (WCM). It becomes the 23rd North American facility to reach the milestone award level and the first plant to be awarded in 2019.
February 26, 2019 Fiat Chrysler Automobiles N.V. confirmed today plans to invest a total of $4.5 billion in five of its existing Michigan plants, and to work with the city of Detroit and state of Michigan on building a new assembly plant within city limits. The move would increase capacity to meet growing demand for its Jeep® and Ram brands, including production of two new Jeep-branded white space products, as well as electrified models. The proposed projects would create nearly 6,500 new jobs.

January 7, 2019 FCA US LLC installs intelligent lighting systems in more than half of its manufacturing facilities, two Mopar Parts Distribution Centers and 87 dealerships, including two metro Detroit operations, Jefferson North Assembly Plant and Warren Stamping Plant, helping drive down energy costs by at least 50 percent and improving employee productivity by making the spaces responsive to the needs at each workspace.

June 25, 2018 Two FCA US facilities have joined the ranks of silver designated plants in the Company’s World Class Manufacturing (WCM) methodology. Toledo (Ohio) Machining and Sterling Stamping (Sterling Heights, Michigan) were recognized for their efforts in expanding the implementation of WCM principles, becoming the eighth and ninth plants, respectively, to reach this milestone.
June 20, 2018 The FCA US Belvidere Assembly Plant welcomed the Jeep® Cherokee to its new production home on June 1, 2017. The decision to invest $350 million to retool the facility was made as part of the Company’s broader industrialization plan created to respond to the market’s shift away from small cars and to realign its U.S. manufacturing operations to fully utilize available capacity to expand the Jeep and Ram brands.
