Stellantis Announces $99 Million Investment for New Engine Production at Three North American Plants

August 1, 2022 Stellantis announced today that it will invest a total of $99 million in three North American plants for production of a new four-cylinder turbocharged engine. Investments will be made at the Dundee Engine Complex in Michigan, the Kokomo Casting Plant in Indiana and the Etobicoke Casting Plant in Toronto.

Windsor Assembly Plant to Produce Vehicles on New STLA Large Platform

June 3, 2022 Stellantis announced today that vehicles produced on the new STLA Large platform will be built at the Windsor (Ont.) Assembly Plant. Production of the current L-series vehicles – Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger, Dodge Challenger – at the Brampton (Ont.) Assembly Plant will end when retooling begins in 2024, as announced on May 2, 2022.

PLANT FACT SHEET: Windsor Assembly Plant, Windsor Facility was built in 1928. In 1939, a special Chrysler royal convertible sedan was built for the 1939 Royal Tour and thousands were shipped overseas. From 1925-1965, vehicles produced at the plant included Plymouth two- and four-door sedans, Dodge hardtops, DeSoto convertibles, Chrysler station wagons and club coupes.

PLANT FACT SHEET: Brampton Assembly Plant and Brampton Satellite Stamping Plant, Brampton On May 2, 2022, a $3.6 billion CAD ($2.8 billion USD) investment was announced to transform both the Windsor and Brampton Assembly Plants to support the Company’s Dare Forward 2030 strategic plan. Beginning in 2024, Brampton will be retooled and fully modernized. PLANT FACT SHEET: Etobicoke Casting Plant, Toronto On Aug. 1, 2022, Stellantis announced an investment of $99 million for three North American plants for production of a new 1.6-liter, I-4 turbocharged engine that has both direct fuel injection and flexibility for hybrid-electric vehicle (HEV) applications. Nearly $2 million will be invested at Etobicoke to support the development and installation of new tooling and equipment upgrades for production of the oil pan for the engine.
