Family Service Association of Howard County Inc. (FSA) announced that it has received a second $50,000 grant for Jackson Street Commons, a permanent, supportive housing program for chronically homeless veterans in Howard and Tipton counties.

FCA has completed the transfer of $900,000 to the City of Detroit’s Housing & Revitalization Department (HRD) — the first tranche of a $1.8 million commitment — to fund a home repair grant program for homeowners on the City’s east side. The program, one component of the Community Benefits Agreement FCA signed in May, provides eligible homeowners living near FCA’s new assembly plant on Mack Avenue with grants of up to $15,000 per property to invest in home repairs.

The grantees, all of whom are focused on improving educational outcomes for Detroit-area students, provide a wide array of in-classroom, after school, summer and weekend programming.

Detroit will again show off the colors of the rainbow this weekend (June 8-9), celebrating lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) culture at Motor City Pride, an annual two-day festival and parade that is the largest LGBTQ gathering in Michigan. A rainbow-wrapped 2019 Fiat 124 Spider Lusso will serve as grand marshal vehicle for this year’s parade.

During a special presentation at FCA’s Windsor Assembly Plant today, Plant Manager Michael Brieda announced a donation of $1,249,110 to the United Way/Centraide Windsor-Essex County 2019 campaign. This marks the largest donation in the Windsor-Essex community and the 33rd consecutive year of FCA Canada employees and retirees donating over $1 million.

The Michigan College Access Network (MCAN) has received a $50,000 grant from the FCA Foundation to increase the percentage of Detroiters with high quality degrees and certificates. The grant will support MCAN's AdviseMI program, which helps low-income students, first-generation college-going students and students of color navigate the complex college exploration, admissions and financial aid process.
